High school - Healthcare Careers Discovery Program

The Healthcare Careers Discovery Program offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in interactive learning experiences in our Simulation Center. During the week-long summer session, learners participate in a combination of workshops and simulation scenarios exposing them to a variety of clinical skills and healthcare professions.

Program Highlights:
  • First on the Scene emergency response training with AHA Heartsaver CPR AED & First Aid skills and certification. These skills will be called up throughout the week as students participate in a variety of simulated scenarios.
  • Mock Code (cardiac arrest) Simulations
  • Hospital Based Careers Panel featuring speakers from a variety of disciplines and areas of expertise.
  • Behind the Scenes Hospital Tour
  • Resume Writing and Mock Interviews

  • Injections, IVs and Bleeding Control
  • Obstetrics - Childbirth

Explore a future in healthcare through hands-on activities, interactive simulations, and exposure to a variety of healthcare careers.

Participants will be selected through a competitive application process and will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the program.

Eligibility and 2027 Program Dates

All participants must have completed their first year of high school before their program session begins.

Spring 2027:

Choose one of two sessions:

  • Session 1: March 22–25, 2027
  • Session 2: March 30–April 2, 2027
Summer 2027:
  • Session 1: June 22–25, 2027

Hours: 8:00am to 3:30pm (Hours subject to change)

Tuition and Application Fee

Tuition for the complete program is $999.50 plus non-refundable application fee of $25.00 is required.

Scholarship Opportunity

Scholarships Jointly Funded by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Iota Epsilon Omega Chapter and Holy Name Foundation. Initial HCDP applicants can apply for a scholarship. ADVANCED Healthcare Careers Discovery Program

Build on your introductory experience through focused activities designed to deepen your understanding of healthcare careers. Participants will engage in advanced skills and simulations, topical research, teamwork, and observational experiences, subject to availability and hospital protocols.

Eligibilty and 2027 Program Dates

The Advanced program is open only to high school students who have successfully completed the introductory Healthcare Careers Discovery Program.

Summer 2027:
  • Session 1: July 26–30, 2027
Tuition and Application Fee:

Tuition for the complete program is $999.50 plus non-refundable application fee of $25.00 is required.
